How to scope a Shopify technical SEO audit
A useful technical brief starts with the affected templates and URLs, not a single sitewide score. Identify whether the problem concerns products, collections, articles or navigation, and record the date of any migration, redesign or app change. This helps separate a recurring template defect from an isolated page issue.
Illustrative diagnostic example
If a collection is missing from search, first check its HTTP response, canonical destination, robots directives and internal links. Then compare those findings with Google Search Console URL Inspection when access is available. A page returning HTTP 200 is accessible, but that alone does not prove that Google has indexed it. This example is a diagnostic workflow, not a customer case study.
Information to include in your enquiry
- Your store URL and a few affected page examples.
- The symptom, when it began and recent theme or app changes.
- Relevant Search Console findings if already available; never send passwords.
Scope and limitations
Confirm the URL sample, implementation responsibilities and validation steps before work starts. Theme fixes, app conflicts and Shopify platform constraints may need different owners. A crawl warning is not automatically a defect, and neither an audit nor a technical change guarantees indexing, a rich result or a ranking improvement.
